South Kensington

South Kensington is the museum quarter, and quieter than the postcodes around it. SW7, south of Kensington Gardens, with the Victoria and Albert, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum all within a few hundred yards of each other.

Where it is

South Kensington station sits on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines. Gloucester Road is one stop west, Knightsbridge one stop east, and Chelsea is a walk south down Sloane Avenue.

What is here

A settled roster in a residential area rather than a transient one. Rates sit below Knightsbridge while the postcode is every bit as respectable, which is the main argument for booking here over the streets immediately east.

This is also where the genuine specialist and massage practitioners cluster, as opposed to companions who list a service without practising it.

Mostly incall, in mansion blocks and garden squares. Discreet by the nature of the buildings rather than by any special arrangement.

What the area is like at night

Quiet, which is the point. This is residential in a way that Knightsbridge and Earls Court are not, and arrivals here attract no attention at all. The restaurants around Bute Street and Old Brompton Road make it a workable dinner date area as well.

What it costs

From around £280, below Knightsbridge and above Gloucester Road for an address that is arguably better than either.
